PMP Dual Station Dual Injection: Wax Injection Press

Unique Design for Efficient Wax Injection

Designed by Universal Designovation Lab LLP

The PMP Dual Station Dual Injection (DSDI) Wax Injection Press is a groundbreaking design that revolutionizes the investment casting process. This innovative machine, developed by Universal Designovation Lab LLP, combines two stations with vertical and horizontal injection nozzles, allowing a single operator to manage both stations simultaneously. With its compact design, patented vertical nozzle with ejector system, and real-time operation monitoring, the DSDI Wax Injection Press offers improved efficiency, reduced costs, and optimized cycle times.

The inspiration for the DSDI Wax Injection Press came from the need to streamline the investment casting unit, which traditionally required multiple wax injection presses. By connecting two stations in a smart arrangement with vertical and horizontal nozzles at right angles, the design eliminates the need for separate machines and operators. This not only reduces the number of identical components but also minimizes dwell time, making the process more efficient.

One of the key features of the DSDI Wax Injection Press is its patented vertical nozzle with ejector system. This compact and easy-to-operate mechanism allows the operator to control the start inject dwell eject dwell cycle for each station, ensuring smooth and precise wax injection. The touch screen-based control panel provides real-time operation cycle parameters and status updates, further enhancing the ease of use and control.

The DSDI Wax Injection Press is made using a combination of CNC machining, punching, laser cutting, sheet metal forming, and standard fabrication processes. The main pillars of the press are made of stainless steel and heat-treated for durability. The main frame and work plates are constructed from mild steel, while the horizontal nozzle injector block is made of LM 25 aluminum casting alloy. The wax tank, made of aluminum alloy, features a surface heater and internal stirrer. The hydraulic motor pump, solenoid valve, hydraulic power pack, and cylinder are all built to meet industry standards.

With its impressive technical specifications, including a clamping force of 12 tons, a single shot capacity of 1500 cc, and a table height of 950 mm, the DSDI Wax Injection Press offers exceptional performance. The design also incorporates independent PID controllers for the tank and block temperature, as well as sunbeam-type controllers for the nozzle. The auto sequence feature allows for easy operation, with a simple push to start the clamp down, suction of wax, injection, and clamp up.

The development of the DSDI Wax Injection Press took 15 months, from research and ideation to engineering, prototyping, and final production. The design team, consisting of PMP Machine Tools and Universal Designovation Lab LLP, overcame various challenges, including creating a mechanism that would allow a single operator to handle both horizontal and vertical nozzles simultaneously. They also focused on improving the aesthetic and ergonomic aspects without compromising manufacturing cost and time.

The DSDI Wax Injection Press has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in the Prosumer Products, Tools, and Machinery Design category in 2016. This prestigious award acknowledges the design's practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial requirements. With its user-centric design and optimized productivity, the DSDI Wax Injection Press is a game-changer in the investment casting industry.
